The Gimp 2.2.12 - Multiplatform Photo Manipulation Tool

gimp picThe Gimp 2.2.12 (Windows, Open Source, 7.73MB) [via Filehippo] is a multiplatform photo manipulation tool. GIMP is an acronym for GNU Image Manipulation Program. It is suitable for a variety of image manipulation tasks, including photo retouching, image composition, and image construction. Requires GTK+ 2 Runtime Environment.

Version 2.2.12 is the latest stable version of The GIMP. Please note that the 2.3.x versions are actually development releases targeting the future 2.4 stable release.

  • plugged a possible buffer overrun in the XCF parser (bug #346742)
  • don't save image parasites twice in XCF files (bug #346754)


I'm currently trying to teach myself to use The GIMP to create pictures for my news articles at 1SRC.com. I happy to learn that it supports PSD files. :)
