BabySplat 0.93 (Windows, Open Source / Donationware, 596KB) [source: Lifehacker] is a program you can use to give your kids something to do when you step away from an unprotected computer. Your kids can bang on the keyboard and as keys are pressed shapes and sounds appear on the screen which will (hopefully) safeguard other work you are doing on the computer, or at least distract them long enough for you to grab them away.
This is an application that I really need for my home PC. My son is always interested in "operating" our Windows machine whenever he has the chance, and BabySplat will give him some visual interaction.
