HandBrake 0.9.3 – Convert DVD and Other Videos to MPEG-4

HandBrake 0.9.3 (Windows, Open Source, 6.2MB) [alt DL] is an open-source, GPL-licensed, multiplatform, multithreaded DVD to MPEG-4 converter.

Also available for Linux.

Changes:

  • no longer limited to DVDs: it will now accept practically any type of video as a source.
  • now offers total control over multiple audio tracks.
  • should now keep lip-synch as well as a DVD player can.
  • by default, passes through the exact video framerate of the source instead of smoothing to a constant rate, which could lead to frames being duplicated or dropped.
  • can encode video using the Theora codec.
  • Besides x264, updated libraries include libsamplerate, libogg, xvidcore, libmpeg2, lame, faac, and ffmpeg's libavcodec, libavformat, and libswscale.
  • Massive improvements to all interfaces
