ReactOS 0.3.4 - Open Source Windows-Compatible OS

ReactOS 0.3.4 (Windows, Open Source, 27.8MB) [download via FileForum] is an open source effort to create a Windows NT 4/2000/XP+ compatible operating system licensed under the GNU public license. In partnership with the WINE project, ReactOS also supports drivers which work under Microsoft Windows.

Changes:

  • Added more entries to machine.inf to install ACPI thermal zones and lids
  • LiveCDs now use the SOS boot screen
  • XML compliance fixes for the .rbuild files
  • Define default strings in the general "version.rc" resource file, which shouldn't be overwritten by applications.
  • Update icons for Shell32, Setupapi.
  • Se fixes related to cygwin.
  • Fixed parsing of registry key names with double reverse solidus.
  • Handle recvfrom with a thrown-away address, and properly handle exception locking userland buffers in afd packet path
  • Updated Mingw headers to version 3.13
  • Create the directory ROS_TEMPORARY if it does not exist, when building ReactOS
  • Add support to build multiple architectures simultaneously
  • Do not use host headers anymore when building target executables/libraries
  • Fix XBox boot (still no support for USB keyboard/mouse)
  • Enable/disable debug messages dynamically in user mode DLLs and some drivers
  • Display a simple bootlogo, instead of a black screen if /SOS option is not provided
  • Create user profile if needed
  • New i8042prt driver, plug-and-play compliant
