Paint.NET 2.6 - Free Image & Photo Manipulation Software

paint net logoPaint.NET 2.6 (Windows, Freeware, 3.49 MB) [via FileForum] is a photo and image editing tool designed for computers running Microsoft Windows XP or Windows 2000. It serves the digital imaging community as a free alternative to the standard paint application included with Windows. It brings powerful features to the desktop, a myriad of special effects, plug-in extensibility, and layer manipulation. It enhances the image editing experience for tablet owners with Windows XP Tablet Ink support. Digital photographers and artists can enhance their images with features and effects such as levels adjustment, cross-layer cloning, anti-aliased tools, motion blur, and red eye removal.

  • Full 64-bit support, for both x64 and Itanium systems
  • New "Curves" adjustment for editing an image's color curves
  • Seven new layer blend modes: Color Burn, Color Dodge, Reflect, Glow, Overlay, Negation, and Xor

  • Rewritten layer composition engine is now mathematically correct, and faster

  • User interface now works correctly in high-DPI (120dpi, 144dpi, 196dpi)
  • Layers window list is no longer "upside down"
  • Upgraded to use .NET Framework 2.0
  • Many other improvements and fixes
