BBC News reports that computers infected by the Nyxem-E Windows virus will experience the deletion of Oracle, Access, Photoshop, RAR, ZIP, Word, Powerpoint, Excel, and Acrobat files on the 3rd of February. [source: Tech Digest]
The Nyxem-E Windows virus first emerged on 16 January and has been steadily racking up victims ever since. Nyxem-E is also known as the Blackmal, MyWife, Kama Sutra, Grew and CME-24 virus. [BBC News]
It would be a good idea to execute a full virus scan of your PCs before the said date. And just to be on the safe side, backing up your data files before February 3 would also be a great idea.
